InuYasha 1: 3 volumes in 1, 1-3,  – Rumiko Takahashi

Rating 10/10

Kagome finds herself fallen down an old temple well into the past, to be specific Japan’s ancient past. As she gets a grip of her new world, she is taken by villagers into a village as a prisoner. An old woman looks at Kagome and sees the resemblance of her sister who died fifty years ago. A centipede woman creature is after Kagome who had the Shikon Pearl. A pearl wanted by all demons for the power can make the user stronger. In order to save the world, she has to release InuYasha. A half demon who wants the pearl but he also wants to destroy the demonic woman. Kagome releases him and he takes down the first demon. Bound by Kagome’s will, she can control InuYasha. A crow demon is after Kagome for the infamous pearl. Somehow when she was trying to take down the crow demon, she does it but also shatters the pearl into millions of pieces. The old woman tasks them to go retrieve all the pieces of the world. She wants to leave this world and go back home because she doesn’t want to live in this realm. As she leaves, another demon comes into play to wreak destruction. InuYasha comes to the current realm that Kagome exists in and demands her to come back to save the other realm. Kagome makes the toughest decision.

I had seen this all over the place on the internet. Also, my best friend watches the anime and I saw that they also have a manga series. I grew curious and curiosity got the best of me in the good way. I enjoyed reading this manga novel. I had only found the three in one so I grouped them all together into one and just didn’t go into too much detail. I already am in love with InuYasha. Kagome is alright but I am only here for InuYasha to go along this journey with him. The artwork is really amazing and creepy when the demons are drawn. I know a lot of people will probably ask me if I ship Kagome and InuYasha and all I can say is we will see. I only read the first three volumes. I know this is also an anime series and I will be watching the series as well. I do recommend this manga series for sure because I am in love from the first chapter.

fantastic manga that’s magical and enriching

Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina (Vol 1) – Story by Jougi Shiraishi, Art by Itsuki Nanao, Character design by Azure

Magic, fantasy, witches, wizards, teen, manga, fiction.

Rating 10/10

Elaina, ever since she was a small child, had read books about magic and faraway places. She wanted to become a witch and was willing to do all that she can do to become one. She grows up to the teenage age to take an entrance exam to become an apprentice to a witch. Along her journey, she meets extraordinary people who she helps as she learns to become a full fledged witch.

I am saddened that I was only able to get the first book of this possible Wandering Witch series. This was really cute and heartfelt to read. We got to see along with Elaina the world she is in. The artwork is equally amazingly detailed and the dialogue felt so natural. There were a lot of good and learning moments for the protagonist that readers can take the lesson too. I felt myself wanting to be right there in the action with Elaina but unfortunately book jumping is only fantasy. I suggest reading this book. This will take readers on adventures that are unique and different.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Vol. 1

Story – Satoru Yamaguchi

Art – Nami Hidaka

Young adult, romantic comedy, personal development comedy, video games, fantasy, manga, fiction.

Rating 9/10

A high school student goes on her way to school when a nasty traffic accident kills her. She finds herself awake with head pain and surrounded by Victorian dressed people speaking very politely. As soon as she realizes the eerily coincidences of the characters, she has an epiphany. She is inside the video game she was playing in her past life. She has become Katarina, the villainess of the video game. Having prior knowledge, she knows what she must do to ensure that she doesn’t die again. Things tend to go haywire for her.

My boyfriend got this manga because he was captured by the synopsis and I was equally as interested. Overall, this manga was surely fun to read and very lighthearted. A very good laugh and distraction for these troubled times we all are going through. I do recommend this manga especially since we all are going through a rock and a hard place. This manga will make one forget all troubles for a moment. I love this manga a lot. No matter what the main character does it would seem to create more drama or lead her down a path of doom. This is sort of hilarious and really makes one rethink their life. What if this is all a simulation or a video game? No one knows.
