Harley Quinn: Mad Love A Batman Novel – Paul Dini +
Science fiction, Harley Quinn, Joker, Batman,
Harleen Quinzel didn’t have a glorious childhood
but she had her mother make the best out of it by helping Harleen achieve a
passion in gymnastics. Harleen witnessed her father get mugged and arrested by
police, was chased by these thugs, and saw that her dad went to prison only to
get out by the time she graduated high school. After graduating, Harleen
struggled to find what she was truly passionate enough until she came across
psychology and instantly pursued that. After going through college, she got hired
at Arkham Asylum. That is where she began her practice in psychology by helping
the clinically insane. When she hears about the Joker, and when the Joker hears
about her, they both pursue each other. After a few sessions with the Joker,
Harleen is convinced that the Joker is just an innocent man who was wronged too
many times and tried to make light of the world with his jokes. After his
breakout and the Batman returning the Joker, Harleen becomes Harley Quinn and
she goes and rescues the Joker out of Arkham Asylum. They spend some time
together, committing crimes and running away from Batman, Harley gets caught
and sent to Arkham Asylum. Harley gets treated and dons the Harley Quinn
I love Harley Quinn; I have been obsessed with her
for the longest of time. However, I don’t like how she fell for the Joker and
changed herself to please him. I understand that this was a part of a bigger
scheme of things, but I have to say that this is completely based off the comic
book series as well as the various other character backstory of Harley Quinn. I
want to be open and say this possibly unpopular opinion, I do not condone the
manipulative relationship that Harley and Joker had. I really hope that people
do not want to be like them in any way shape or form. I’m glad that she decided
to leave him after seeing the abuse and manipulation. I liked her with Poison
Ivy because I think she grounded Harley to her senses. Not everyone feels the
same way but I’m merely sharing my opinion. I did like her from the Batman
Animated Series how she kind of had a thing for The Batman, but I strongly
gravitated towards her being with Poison Ivy. My passionate obsession with
Harley Quinn never wavers. Overall, I love how this novel answered my questions
about who Harley Quinn was before she met the Joker. I highly recommend for
anyone who is a Harley Quinn lover to read this novel.
Interview with A Vampire – Anne Rice
Vampires, horror, fiction.
A vampire seeks out this interviewer to record and
tell his story of his life. He tells how he was transformed into a vampire and
how he struggled to survive. This vampire witnessed a lot of events throughout
his lifetime and is not shy to tell all.
I love the idea and simplicity of this intense novel. I had read this years ago and recently decided to reread the novel. I forgot how chilling the novel is and how intricate the plot was. I highly recommend reading this if one is interested in vampires of the no sparkling kind. Anne Rice is queen for making vampire horror fiction.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season

see what happens. Suddenly Harvey is head over heels in love with Sabrina and
does multiple acts of love for her as well as following her around and doing
things for her. When Sabrina has had enough, she attempts to reverse the spell
or fix Harvey, this goes dark and wrong.
I am a huge fan of the Netflix series,
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and found myself drawn to the chilling aspect of
the show for sure. Also, the plot line as well. I had originally saw this book
on the Target shelf and was contemplating to purchase right away or not. I had
decided to wait. The next day, however, I went to a library I hadn’t visited in
a while and saw this book on the shelf, tis was fate for me to borrow this book.
I am glad to have read this. This novel stuck with the lore of the show
completely and was well thought into. I was amazed of how much was packed into
such a small book. I legitimately read this novel in just a day, not only
because this was a small book, but the fact is that this was a page turner and
couldn’t get enough of the story. I recommend this novel and the show on
The Perfect Predator: A Scientists Race
to Save Her Husband from a Deadly Disease – Steffanie Strathdee and Thomas
Disease, life altering, life
threatening, survival, nonfiction.
While on vacation, Steffanie and her
husband Thomas, were having a great time and enjoying themselves. Unluckily her
husband had contracted a disease that was not easily treatable at first.
Further into the story, they go to hospitals and this disease that was
contracted was untreatable and this was going to end with her husband possibly
dying. All was a race to survive this disease but along the way, Steffanie
never felt less of her husband nor left his side. She stayed by his side
through thick and thin.
I found this nonfiction book to be very
compelling as well as a page turner. My heart swelled and I had gotten
goosebumps throughout reading this work. I thought, at first, that this was
going to be bland and boring. I was happy I was wrong about my speculations of
this work. I do recommend to read this nonfiction work if one is intrigued to
hear survival stories and other accounts of survival told through other’s
perspectives. This helped gained some knowledge but as a warning, do not self-diagnose
and go see a doctor, no matter what the condition may be.
Born a Crime: Stories from A South African Childhood – Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah, comedians, United States, South Africa, Television personalities, nonfiction, memoir.
Trevor Noah shares his
childhood in this nonfiction novel with vital stories of his upbringing. The
main importance of this memoir was the fact he was never meant to be, only
because his parents, during an apartheid, had sexual relations. Trevor Noah
tells about the laws that were in place to keep the races from intermingling of
necessary. Noah shares his active childhood that was troublesome and involved a
lot of activities to keep him entertained. Trevor Noah also recounts his school
life and the crushes he has had.
As I had read this
collection of stories from Trevor Noah’s childhood, I wanted to cry and laugh
but mostly I had anger about the whole racism stuff. I enjoyed learning more
about one of my favorite comedians especially this one. I would highly
recommend to read this memoir and to watch the Trevor Noah Netflix specials
A Sucky Love Story: Overcoming Unhappily Ever After – Brittani Louise Taylor
Survival, dating apps, human trafficking victim and survivor, memoir, nonfiction.
Brittani Louise Taylor, shares how her innocent Tinder date that led to her and
her baby son, Rex, to be involved in some sort of human trafficking scheme in a
romance gone wrong. Taylor met Milos on Tinder and they both were mutually interested
in each other. As time progressed, they became closer and she allowed him to
move in with her. Even though she did not want anything to do with him, but
nonetheless he persisted and pursued her. Her and Milos had ups and downs like
any other relationship. Things immediately took a dark turn when Taylor found
out she was pregnant with Milos’s child. The mother of Milos was being utterly
creepy and terrifying, Taylor had to put her foot down and told Milos he and
his mother had to leave the house. When Milos came back, he said he had some
form of cancer, pulling the ultimate scam to make Taylor feel utterly sorry for
him until she saw a flaw in his very lame lie. She had to break up with him and
take Rex with her. The police had to get involved after an incident and Milos
landed in jail. She found out the hard way that she and her son were about to
be human trafficking victims but survived without going through the horrors.
I am a fan of the YouTuber Brittani Louise Taylor and had always loved her unique style and form of entertainment she produced on that platform. I had always wondered about how mysterious her videos became to be and this was the answer in the form of a memoir. I had seen also Shane Dawson’s conspiracy video he included her in, and I had cried. I feel so bad that such an amazing human being went through this. I am glad that she, her mom, and Rex are safe and sound. No one should ever go through that. Be careful whenever one is looking for a date on these dating apps. It can go south easily.
The School for Good and Evil: A Crystal of Time –
Children fiction, young adult fiction, adventure,
Agatha is on the run and struggles to survival as well
as come to terms with who the now false king is. Sophie is forced to marry the
false king and become Queen. Sophie finds out she was lied to and once again
made the villain except this time she didn’t want this. Sophie wants justice
and what’s right. Agatha makes new alliances and creates an army. Sophie makes
a deal. It takes an army of a school and many alliances to defeat the False
King. Time reveals the many truths that are darker than things seem.
I love the whole message of unity to defeat evil and
restore good. This fifth book is better written and well thought int than the
rest hence why it probably took forever to write and publish. Quick paced and
really difficult to put down, ended binge reading this novel. I am so angry
that this book was left as a cliff hanger. Means possibly another book which I
now heavily anticipate.
The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes
– Soman Chainani
Children fiction, young adult fiction, adventure,
In the second installment of School for Good and Evil,
finally the two girls Agatha and Sophie are home. Famous for their fight in the
last book, fame got to their heads. Suddenly things have changed, princes don’t
exist anymore. Neither are princesses. It’s an all-out war between boys and
girls. Everything is now a mess and must be rectified before more terrible
I really thought this book is interesting and it was a
pleasure to read. Simply an incredible page turner It made me laugh, cry, and
cringe I am a huge fan of this book series and I highly recommend for everyone
to try this out. Despite the novel being a children’s book, it is something
everyone can read. It is well written, and I simply had fallen in love with the
first book, now having to hunt down more novels in this series. I honestly
would reread this one maybe a few more times.
