Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World – Benjamin Alire Saenz

Coming of age, families, Mexican Americans, friendship, homosexuality, fiction.

Rating 9/10

Ari and Dante discover their true feelings. They do have feelings for each other but they are still unsure about themselves. However, with a camping trip that leads to them growing closer, there is certainly more now than ever that they should get together officially. They will come out to their friends and family then face the true challenges that both will eventually face.

I had to get my hands on the sequel because the first book was so good. This one was equally as good. I loved the characters and how they interacted with not just each other but their very supportive families. This author did a splendid job with the story and continuing the story of Ari and Dante. I feel that within the community we don’t hear enough about the families that are supportive of their teenagers and young adults and their sexuality. Often we see on the news that some teenager or young adult is kicked out of their home because they came out to their parents. Just know that there are those families that do love their children unconditionally and always reach out to others. I’m happy to have read this and hope that every single teen and young adult doesn’t feel alone. There is a community out there that will welcome you with open arms as family. My blog is a safe space and if anyone needs help contact me. I’m here for anyone who needs it.
